Expanding Community Impact Through Improved Water Access & Sanitation

Access to clean and reliable water is essential for healthy, resilient communities. At Rex Forestry, we recognise that many villages within and around our operational areas continue to face water scarcity due to ageing borehole infrastructure, inadequate WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) systems, and increased water stress during the dry season. Strengthening water access is therefore a key pillar of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Under our CSR Pillar of Water Access & Sanitation, we are working toward a clear goal – To ensure equitable access to clean water and restore dignity through sustainable, communitycentred WASH improvements.

Addressing Water Challenges in Underserved Communities

Many legacy and underserved villages have endured irregular access to potable water due to dilapidated boreholes or complete lack of functional systems. This challenge is further compounded during dry months, when water stress intensifies and communities experience difficulty meeting daily water needs.

To bridge this gap, our CSR work plan prioritises the construction of new boreholes and the rehabilitation of existing infrastructure. These interventions are designed to deliver long-term, reliable water access that communities can depend on throughout the year.

Through our projects, we aim to provide sustainable access to clean water while reducing the burden on residents who often need to travel long distances for safe water. These projects represent a critical investment in improving community health, reducing reliance on unsafe surface water, and strengthening yearround water security.

Our Commitment to Community WellBeing

By expanding access to clean drinking water, we contribute directly to public health, gender equity (as women and girls often carry the burden of water collection), and overall community resilience. Each borehole project is designed with sustainability in mind, ensuring that water points remain functional and properly maintained over time.

We understand that safe water access is more than a convenience, it is a foundation for dignity, opportunity, and improved quality of life. Our CSR programme reflects this belief by focusing on longterm solutions.

As we continue implementing our CSR initiatives, Rex Forestry remains committed to working hand in hand with local leaders and residents to ensure that our WASH interventions deliver meaningful, lasting benefits. Through sustained collaboration, transparent planning, and targeted investment, we aim to build healthier and more resilient communities across our operational footprint.
